- Experience and knowledge of CRA's SR&ED program is an asset.
SOMOS Consulting is looking for a Technical SR&ED Writer to join their SR&ED group. The Scientific Research and Experimental Development (SR&ED) program is a federal tax incentive program to encourage Canadian businesses of all sizes and in all sectors to conduct research and development (R&D) in Canada that will lead to new, improved, or technologically advanced products or processes. SOMOS helps claimants apply for SR&ED investment tax credits for eligible expenditures such as wages, materials, machinery, equipment, some overhead, and SR&ED contracts.
In this role, you will be primarily responsible for the following tasks:

- Assist in conducting technical interviews with supervisory/engineers/technical expertise and gather technical documentation (design documents, conceptual architecture drawings, specifications, project artefacts) to evaluate R&D activities.
- Assist our clients to identify eligible SR&ED activities and describe these activities in a technical report.
- Reconstruct a project from core and support R&D activities. Identify the R&D starting point, innovations, uncertainties, and work performed.
- Organize material and complete writing assignment according to set standards regarding order, clarity, conciseness, style, and terminology.
- Study client technical documentation to integrate and delineate technology, operating procedure, and production sequence and detail for the purposes of the SR&ED proposal.
- Describe the project in a report that is consistent with SR&ED guidelines using our SR&ED report template.
- The ideal candidate will have been involved in preparing or composing technical manuals or government proposals involving technology.
- The ideal candidate will have at least 3 to 5 years of experience involved in research or design and development in one of the following engineering facets:
- Information Technology
- Software
- System Engineering
- Pharmaceutical
- Military and Defense
- Aerospace and Aircraft
- Automotive
- Metallurgy
- Mechanical Engineering
- Experimental Stress and Modal Analyses
- Advanced Machining and Robotics
- Automatic Control
- Electronics and Microwave
- Medicine Science
A university degree in Technology or Science would be an asset.
Fluency in English
A member in good standing with any professional engineering association in Canada or USA would be an asset.
