Project Management Consulting Opportunities

SOMOS engages Project Management specialists for the following types of opportunities: 

  • These consultants will be involved in Microsoft Enterprise Project Management System Implementation. The requirements are for implementation of Microsoft Project Server and Microsoft Portfolio Server 2007 (two products) OR the implementation of Microsoft Project and Portfolio Server 2010.

  • Project Controls Managers are typically responsible for developing and implementing the project controls functions, in addition to overseeing cost engineering functions, and planning and scheduling functions. 

  • These specialists typically oversee the development and implementation of control systems procedures, as well as prepare and maintain project schedules and assess cost forecasts. 

  • Advisors and Coordinators typically work in matrix roles to coordinate and facilitate decision-making and implementation.  In addition, they may track the project status and update the project plan, documentation, and schedules. They may also evaluate the impact of risks and scope changes, and recommend corrective action where needed. 

  • These specialists typically assist with developing decision-making processes by reviewing existing work processes, organizational structures, and work and decision flows. They may also develop potential solutions and modifications to automated processes. 

  • These specialists design, build, and implement PM information systems to provide program support and control. In addition, they may determine the requirements for evaluation of PM systems, and train staff on the operation of the systems. 

  • Project Administrators support project leaders and decision-makers by collecting and processing data, as well as provide administrative and clerical support for the project team. 

  • Project Leaders are responsible for project delivery, and may be involved in the development of integrated project plans, procurement and subcontract management, and the management of organizational transition. As senior consultants, project leaders are expected to lead the project team and communicate directly with management executives.

  • Schedulers provide analytical support to project leaders by evaluating the impact of risks and scope changes to project schedules, and by identifying contingency plans where needed. In addition, they may identify and document any deviations from the standard operating procedures and the risk management plans. 

  • PM Trainers typically define an organization’s training requirements, and recommend PM-related training solutions, including developing an appropriate training curriculum. 

  • Consultants typically work with project and technical leads to develop new corporate policies, standards, and procedures related to the use of information technology and resources. They may also be responsible for researching and reviewing the existing documentation and revising it when necessary, as well as establishing standards and version control for written documentation.
