Project Management Consultant - Project Management Specialist

Engagement Overview: 

SOMOS has requirements for Project Management Specialists for the following types of services:

  • Process and Methodology Development;
  • Project Planning;
  • Project Review and Audit;
  • Project and Portfolio Management Systems;
  • PMO Design and Setup;
  • Project Administrators;
  • Project Analysts and Schedulers;
  • Project Coordinators; and
  • Project Leadership.

Contract

Engagement Period: 

Engagements range from one month to several years

Location: 

 

Alberta, including

  • Edmonton; 
  • Calgary; 
  • Fort McMurray; 
  • Red Deer; 
  • Grande Prairie; and 
  • Brooks.

  • Strong knowledge of Project Management processes.  Experience in all phases of the project management life cycle.
  • Development of project deliverables including initiation documentation, project planning, WBS, project schedule development, project change control, procurement and subcontract management, issue & risk management practices, and project documentation control.
  • Development and implementation of Project Management Office (PMO) processes including reporting and cost management.
  • Delivery and management of integrated project systems and plans.

Additional desired skills:

  • Deltek Suite of Products including Open Plan, Cobra and WInsight;
  • Microsoft Project and Portfolio Server 2003 or higher; or
  • Oracle Primivera.

 

Engagement Description: 
  • Prepare Project Management Deliverables such as business case, budget & forecasts, project charter, requirements definition, WBS, project schedule, change management plan, configuration management plan, quality management plan, risk management plan, training plan, implementation plan and service level agreements.
  • Conduct Cost Management activities by analyzing project actual and estimated costs and determining Earned Value.
  • Manage Scope, Issues and Risks
  • Develop reporting process and establish reporting standards for the project.
  • Prepare and present status, financial and project reports to management and stakeholders.
  • Manage, evaluate and monitor the project plan and schedule.  Manage critical path schedules accordingly.
Experience: 
  • Oil and Gas industry expertise required
  • Fifteen (15) or more years of progressive experience is typical.
Education: 

 

Minimum:

  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Science, or other OR
  • College Diploma with PM experience

Suggested:

  • Second degree in a complementary field, such as Business, Humanities
Language Requirement: 
  • English is mandatory.
Certifications: 
  • The following certifications are nice to have:
    • PMP
    • CMC or CMA
    • PRINCE2®
