Engagement Description:
Technical Writers will work with Project and Technical Leads to develop new and revise existing corporate policies, standards, and procedures in all aspects related to the use of, typically information technology and resources. The Technical Writer will assist in the creation of policies, standards and procedures, which will include, but is not limited to:
- Creating documentation related to the development and updating of information and technology policies, procedures and standards.
- Researching and reviewing related existing documentation and revising into draft policy/procedure /standard template format.
- Establishing version control of policies, procedures and standards.
- Setting standards for written documentation.
- Assisting in the preparation of relevant communication materials related to the publication of corporate policies, procedures, and standards.
- Assisting staff subject matter experts in the development of draft policies, procedures, and standards.
- Assisting in the preparation of staff reports for various standing committees on a variety of information and technology subject areas.
- Expected deliverables include policies, procedures, standards, and guidelines.
Experience:
5 years demonstrated experience documenting complex technical procedures and processes, and
- Minimum of 2 years experience in information technology in the last 10 years of which 1 was as a Technical Writer with a Bachelor's Degree; or
- A minimum of 3 years experience in information technology in the last 10 years of which 1 was as a Technical Writer with a College Diploma; or
- A minimum of 5 years experience in information technology in the last 10 years of which 3 were as a Technical Writer.
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Sciences, Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or Communications; or
- College Diploma in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering Technology or Communications
Language Requirement:
- English - fluent
- French - often imperative
