Corporate History

We first registered the name SOMOS in Toronto, Ontario in 1980. Under SOMOS, we did part-time technical development, consulting, and marketing through the 80's while honing our skills working with various high technology product development companies.

Like a lot of other enterprises in the Ottawa Valley, SOMOS Consulting Group started in a basement, after a high tech meltdown and layoff in 1991. (That was the melt-down before the most recent one.)

Our original work was delivering Project Management consulting services to high technology companies and federal government organizations. We established a network with other best-in-class Project Managers and found that the market was happy to find an organization like SOMOS.

Soon, the work became more than could be managed from the basement, so we rented commercial space and continued to grow with the high technology market. We also broadened our service offering to address the growing demand in information technology for higher quality project professionals.

SOMOS has continued to grow steadily and has recently (2007) moved to our own building in Ottawa's west end - on Carling Avenue in Kanata.

We are happy to be in business in Ottawa with its exciting opportunities in both high technology product development and in information technology systems development. SOMOS will continue to bring management and technical services as long as our customers seek greater efficiencies, quicker results, and more clarity along the path.
