The Project Management side of Donuts, Funnels, and Gates

Presentation to Ottawa Manufacturers' Network Workshop on May 25, 2007.

There is a continuous supply of new and appealing techniques that claim to solve an organization's product development woes. They promise better time-to-market, reduced risk, better decisions, or lower development costs, but these techniques often fail to deliver the expected results. Are these methods fundamentally unsound or were they just mis-applied?

Drawing on industry literature and on three decades of experience in Product and Technology development, Alan Boyce will examine some popular techniques designed to aid in Product Development. The examination will look into the goals, applicability, and critical success factors, as well as common pitfalls and consequences. Finally, Alan will provide realistic, practical, solutions for managing these techniques and avoiding some of the pitfalls.
