Earned Value - Evolution and Practice
Presentation to PMI OVOC Luncheon on Wednesday, March 26, 2008.
Earned Value looks simple: project managers can understand the basic calculations in about fifteen minutes. Anyone who has tried to incorporate Earned Value into a project management system, though, has uncovered a change-management project that can take six to twelve months, or even longer. And customers have found that a successful implementation requires personnel and partners with years of experience and previous EV successes.
In this presentation, Alan presents the basic Earned Value concepts and outlines the history of Earned Value Management starting with the US Department of Defense C/S Control Systems Criteria. He will trace the evolution through the Canadian C/SPMS and ANSI 748. Finally, he provides a look into the technical and organizational aspects of some specific EV Management Systems implementations, including both accredited environments and EV-Lite.
