What is PRINCE2?
PRINCE2 (PRojects IN Controlled Environments) is a robust and pragmatic framework which has been under review and revision for more than a decade. It provides you with:
Principles: The underlying basic ideas of project management are expressed as seven simple principles that:
• Have been proven in practice
• Apply to all projects and
• Empower you by explaining what you should be aiming for
Themes: Some elements, such as making plans and monitoring progress, need to be managed continuously, throughout a project. PRINCE2 explains a comprehensive set of seven themes that will ensure you consider all aspects of a project. Then PRINCE2 goes further by adding a specific PRINCE2 treatment for each theme and integrating them tightly into a coherent way of considering the whole project from start to finish.
Processes: The seven PRINCE2 processes describe the activities that need to be considered at each step during the life of the project. They link the triggers for each step with the information about the project that needs to be created or updated and make clear who should be doing what.
