Required Skills:

The DBA consultant must be able to demonstrate that they possess the following skillset:

Database and data migration for a production system environment;
Administering databases for greater then 100 concurrent users;
Implementing multi-level security;
Database backup;
Database recovery and restorations;
Testing and developing staging systems.

Engagement Description:

The Database Administrator (DBA) consultant is typically responsible for installing and configuring database server software for a production system environment using one or more of the following products:

Oracle;
Sybase;
Gemstone;
Objectivity;
DB2;
Retrievalware.

Additionally, the DBA consultant will also handle database performance tuning and maintenance duties including one or more of the following:

physical database optimization;
logical database optimization;
query optimization for a production system environment.

Experience:

The DBA Consultant will have demonstrated experience in installing and configuring database server software. They will have created and implemented database backup and recovery and restoration strategies and procedures and must have experience in database backup and database recovery/restorations.
The DBA must have experience in establishing and maintaining database environments for production systems as well as testing, development and staging systems. The experience must be in administering databases for greater then 100 concurrent users.
Other areas of experience that would benefit the DBA consultant would be in areas such as implementing multi-level security for data contained in production database, or experience identifying and resolving integration issues requiring input from application development or systems administration areas.

Education:

A university degree at the Bachelor level in Computer Science or Engineering (Systems, Software or Electrical).
