The Database Developer role requires that the candidate be able to demonstrate that they have skills in the following areas:
The Database Developer consultant is responsible for logical database design and modeling. They will be performing physical database design and implementation in at least one or more of the following products:
- Oracle;
- Sybase;
- Gemstone;
- Objectivity;
- DB2;
- Retrievalware.
They also handle designing and developing database related software for n-tier architecture and will work to optimize the physical database design of a production database to increase performance.
A candidate for the Database Developer consulting role will be able to demonstrate four (4) years applied experience in the field of database development.
This experience must include work in logical database design and modeling as well as performing physical database design and in the implementation of at least one or more of the programs stated by the client. They must be able to demonstrate a minimum of fours years experience optimizing the physical database design of a production database to increase performance.
Additionally, they will need to demonstrate experience in applying IT Security in a production database environment. Database administration in a production network environment would also typically be considered an asset.
A university degree at the Bachelor level in Computer Science or Engineering (Systems, Software or Electrical).
