Building and Managing Effective Project Teams

Course Description:

The management gurus say, 'It's always a people problem.' This course is about people - people as individuals, in project teams, and as project managers.

The SOMOS course Building and Managing Effective Project Teams was developed for the specialist or senior technical staff who is new to the role of management. It introduces them to the concepts and analytical framework of managing people, by studying peoples' differences, similarities, and behaviours.

Through a combination of lectures, videos, exercises, and case studies, participants examine work and project environments and the behaviours of individuals at work. Attendees learn the factors that influence individual and team performance, and take away practical tools and techniques to get the best performance from a team in a real project environment.

Objectives:

After completing the SOMOS Building and Managing Effective Project Teams course, participants will have analytical techniques and decision support tools to help them analyze, understand, and manage people in project teams.
