Cobra 4.7 Release Announced by Deltek

Deltek Cobra 4.7 Now Available!

Deltek is pleased to announce the release of Cobra 4.7, the newest version of the industry-standard Earned Value Management System (EVMS) solution for managing project costs. This release includes enhancements to simplify data entry and analysis for the casual or new user, simplify customer deliveries, and provide better control over the earned value calculations.

Improving Usability and Control

Deltek Cobra version 4.7 is designed to make day-to-day tasks in Cobra easier, while improving your control of how earned value is calculated.

  • For the Cost Analyst or Project Controls Professional, save time by selecting cost codes and resources with a new, easy-to-use tree view pick list. This hierarchical view displays codes in a quick organized fashion virtually eliminating time wasted on searching through a long list of codes. In addition, additional descriptions in the Details dialog box of the Program form provide easy identification of the class and budget element codes.
  • If you manage projects with multiple currencies, you can now set the home currency for a project and use the three character currency notation (for example, USD or GBP) so there is no confusion over U.S. and Canadian dollars.
  • The ANSI X12 now has option to include overhead, G&A and COM in the body and/or drop to the bottom line.

Working the Way You Work

Now, Project Controls Managers can add more flexibility to how earned value is calculated by selecting from three, new Performance Measurement Techniques (PMT):

  • Earned as Spent is useful in calculating earned value for material items. The percent complete is calculated using the actual costs loaded for the work package.
  • Earning Rules is very similar to milestones except you are not required to enter a date on a step as you do for milestones.
  • Percent Complete Manual Entry specifies that even if the task may have been created by loading from a schedule, the status (percent complete) will be entered manually.

Improved Integration

Project Controls organizations upgrading to Primavera 6.0 can rest assured your investment is protected with Deltek Cobra 4.7. P6 is now supported through direct connect to the data or through the API adding flexibility and improved control.
