Registered PRINCE2 Practitioner

Attendees to the SOMOS PRINCE2 Practitioner course will have written the PRINCE2 Practitioner exam as part of the course. Those who are successful on the examination will receive:

  • PRINCE2 Practitioner Course Certificate
  • Registered PRINCE2 Practitioner Accreditation

PRINCE2 is a process-based approach for project management providing an easily tailored and scaleable method for the management of all types of projects. The method is the de-facto standard for project management in the UK and is practiced worldwide. The continued international development of PRINCE2 examinations, training and course material is contributing significantly to the recognition of PRINCE2 as a truly international standard. More and more people are having the opportunity to benefit from the training courses and qualifications that are available worldwide.

PRINCE2 is recognised as a world-class international product and is the standard method for project management, not least because it embodies many years of good practice in project management and provides a flexible and adaptable approach to suit all projects. It is a project management method designed to provide a framework covering the wide variety of disciplines and activities required within a project. The focus throughout PRINCE2 is on the Business Case, which describes the rationale and business justification for the project. The Business Case drives all the project management processes, from initial project set-up through to successful finish.

PRINCE2 certification is now a standard requirement for Project Managers in the UK and it is growing in Europe. As its benefits become more widely understood, it is expected that US and Canadian companies and government organizations will begin to look for this certification from their PMs.

Qualifications

If you want to become a Registered Practitioner, you MUST sit the Foundation Examination and then the Practitioner Examination, in that order.

  • You can sit both exams in the same week or even day, or you can split them and sit them months (or even years!) apart.
  • If you pass both examinations in the same week, you will receive a Practitioner Certificate but not a Foundation Certificate - as you cannot sit the Practitioner exam without first having passed the Foundation, it is not necessary to send a separate Foundation Certificate.
  • You do not have to take a course to sit the examinations - it is down to your personal preference.
When you are ready to take the Examinations, visit the Open Centre Examinations page to choose from the available venues and dates. All fees are shown on the page, and you can download an application form to fill in and fax back.
