Overview:
What's the bottom-line secret to successful virtual teaming? People who trust each other and communicate effectively. This allows the "distributed intelligence" of a VT to engage in productive conflict, demonstrate commitment and accountability, and focus squarely on propelling results. This highly interactive workshop will provide a model and practical tools to remove the roadblocks.

Virtual teams (VT's) are ubiquitous these days, even unavoidable. While they offer tremendous potential for both high performance, they are also highly susceptible to tremendous dysfunction. Like any other kind of team, they succeed or fail for many reasons, some related to technology and others to human factors (the ones using the technology). And as in most teams, it's the human factors that make or break them. While VT's share the characteristics of any team, they differ in one critical ways: Their intelligence is distributed. So the task of focusing that intelligence on results is huge, given the diversity of people and differences in time zones, cultures and organizations

Trust, is always a basic requirement for good teaming, it plays an even more critical role in VT's because it is harder to engender in a virtual environment. Because of this, the other requirements for successful teaming - productive conflict, commitment, accountability and focus on results - are also often undermined.

At this hands-on, interactive workshop, participants will be able to:

Identify and understand the top human causes of virtual team dysfunctions
Adapt leadership approach to cultural environment
Implement best practices to address and resolve people issues in a virtual team
Apply a set of people-savvy models and tools to cure these dysfunctions and boost results by:
- Effectively allocating team resources to build synergy
- Developing participative leadership
- Enhancing team problem-solving
- Resolving conflict
- Enhancing collaboration
This interactive workshop will help participants identify these critical human success factors in virtual teaming as well as a model and practical ways of addressing them to propel the functioning and results of your virtual team to the highest level.
