Using PM Portals to Integrate & Share Information

Project portals can dramatically improve communications within project teams and raise project visibility to stakeholders, suppliers, and customers.  This communication includes gathering and distributing project information, collaboration within the project team, integration of the project support tools, and delivery of best practice information. 

This paper examines the evolution and essential characteristics of portals and their current level of acceptance and use in projects. Several case studies are presented for comparison.  Finally a checklist is provided for selecting a project management portal.
