Upcoming Workshops on Fraud in Telecom

When it comes to solving big problems, we often need a community of passionate team players to come up with a good solution. There are a couple of events next month that will bring the best minds in telecom together to help solve some of our common challenges, such as robocalls and other forms of fraud.

The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) will host a workshop in Washington, DC on September 16 to help consumers fight unwanted robocalls and explore the current state of robocall-blocking solutions. The workshop will be an all-day event with panelists from service providers, developers of call-blocking solutions, and consumer groups.

The Communications Fraud Control Association (CFCA) will also host a Fall Educational Event in Baltimore, MD, September 29 – October 1. For the past 30 years, CFCA has facilitated excellent sessions covering issues important to those in the Communications Fraud Prevention Industry. Topics include “Phone Fraud 2.0 — ANI Spoofing” and “Toll-Free Traffic Pumping”.

Traffic Pumping is a growing problem in the industry. To help contribute toward a solution, Somos has provided our Responsible Organizations (Resp Orgs) with complaint templates that can be used to file a fraud complaint to the FCC.  For more information and to download complaint templates, visit our recent Bad Traffic blog post.
