Texting to Toll-Free and other traditional landline numbers is growing. But many landline devices are not capable of sending and receiving text messages. A Messaging Application is needed to enable texting on a Toll-Free Number.
Messaging Applications are provided by Service Registrars and are offered to their customers on a desktop or handheld device. For high volume uses such as call centers, an Application Programming Interface, or API, is commonly used to integrate messaging into the communications flow.
Service Registrars also need to connect their Messaging Applications to the mobile ecosystem. Connections can be made directly with Mobile Operators (such as AT&T, Verizon, Sprint, or T-Mobile), but are more commonly done through a Messaging Aggregator.
