Earlier this year, the FCC issued a new mandate that stated all disconnected numbers – including disconnected Toll-Free Numbers – will not go into SPARE status until forty-five (45) days after their date of disconnection. In support of the new rule, which went into effect July 27, 2020, Somos has made an upgrade to the SMS/800 TFN Registry to ensure proper system configuration and compliance.
The above reflects just one of several updates that are now available in this latest release of the SMS/800 TFN Registry, which occurred on Sunday, August 2, 2020. In addition to accommodating the FCC 45-day disconnect mandate, the new release also includes a new feature that supports a prior FCC endeavor, the 833 Toll-Free Number Auction, as well as a new version of the SMS/800 TFN Registry’s API.
Relevant to the 833 Auction, a new flag has been added that provides increased visibility for Toll-Free Numbers that were purchased in the auction. For these numbers, a “Yes” will be shown in the newly included "Auctioned TFN" field, allowing them to be more easily identified by Resp Orgs.
APIs continue to simplify processes, remove friction and maximize performance, as demonstrated by API version 3.2, which is included in the new SMS/800 TFN Registry release. Specifically, the API helps clarify functionality within the addition of the following features: Reserved Number List, Number Query, Number Update, MNQ bulk retrieve and MSP bulk retrieve.
