In our latest installment of our Advisory Board member spotlight, we are excited to introduce you to Jaime Zetterstrom, VP, Information Technology at Intrado. With over 20 years of experience in the telecom industry, Jaime is known and respected as a tour-de-force when it comes to fraud prevention and detection as well as consumer advocacy. A collaborative and committed leader, Jaime continuously engages with peers to stay ahead of the fraudsters that are constantly trying to infiltrate the communications ecosystem, which includes an active role as a Board Member in the Communications Fraud Control Association (CFCA).
Being a consumer advocate can often be a lot tougher than it seems, especially when it comes to the telecom industry. For every protection enacted, it can feel like a new scheme is born. And with our recent era of accelerated digitalization, bad actors are getting more and more creative with their scams and other fraudulent activities.
Knowing this, it’s more critical than ever that service providers – and more importantly, champions within these organizations – find ways to keep telephony safe, secure and trustworthy. From advancing controls and safeguards to providing consumer education to working with industry bodies to develop new solutions that preserve confidence and trust in communications, industry leaders are themselves getting more and more creative with their fraud protection measures.
“For better or worse, consumers tend to be easy targets for fraudsters, scammers and robocallers,” says Jaime. “It’s not just my job to protect vulnerable customers, it’s my duty. From my work as part of the Toll-Free Traffic Pumping Traceback Group to my role as a member of Somos’ Advisory Board, I am deeply committed to fighting and reducing fraud and restoring trust in telco.”
Specifically, as a member of Somos’ Advisory Board, Jaime joins fellow telecom thought leaders from Sinch, Verizon, Twilio, Salesforce, Bandwidth, Google, Cox, ATL Communications and THE Telco – serve as a key contributor to Somos’ mission of ensuring more trusted connections between brands, consumers and communities.
In addition to her positions on numerous Boards, committees and associations, Jaime is also a frequent speaker at industry events. This includes participation as a panelist for the upcoming session, Renew Trust in Toll-Free Voice Calls with RealNumber® at the 2021 Somos Summit. Joined by other leading industry experts, Jaime will take part in a discussion around how Somos’ RealNumber Do Not Originate (DNO) solution helps to prevent fraudulent callers from spoofing legitimate numbers and support a business’ integrity and reputation.
