WBA & MGI Resources at Your Fingertips: Part One – Decommission with Ease!

Somos is committed to providing Responsible Organizations (Resp Orgs) the resources and services needed to drive innovation in the Toll-Free industry. This includes the multi-year migration from a legacy mainframe system to the modern, cloud-based SMS/800 Toll-Free Number (TFN) Registry. To further support the future of Toll-Free, two legacy interfaces – Web Based Access (WBA) and Mechanized Generic Interface (MGI) – are scheduled to be decommissioned on April 30, 2021.

To help our Resp Orgs changeover from WBA and MGI to the new SMS/800 TFN Registry User Interface (UI) and APIs, we have developed a new blog series that highlights the many resources available to support you throughout your transition. We encourage you to access the WBA & MGI Resources at Your Fingertips series to learn more about how you can ensure a successful shift.

Without further ado, here’s Part One in the series:

Decommission with Ease!

As most of you may know, two legacy interfaces – WBA and MGI – were maintained throughout the transition to the newly modernized SMS/800 TFN Registry. As technology advances and the SMS/800 TFN Registry expands – adding new innovative features and functionality – continuing to leverage the legacy interfaces can impede:

  • A businesses’ ability to grow;
  • Enhanced performance capabilities;
  • Access to increased value; and more!

To better serve the Resp Org community and support the future of Toll-Free, the new SMS/800 TFN Registry UI and APIs were developed during the registry’s modernization. Built using an “API First” strategy, the new SMS/800 TFN Registry has allowed us to increase overall system efficiency and remove friction. As a result, it is integral that users begin the shift to the new, more modern SMS/800 TFN Registry UI and APIs on or before the decommissioning on April 30, 2021.

To navigate the decommissioning of WBA and MGI and ensure a smooth transition, Somos has assembled a number of resources to help deliver a successful and seamless migration for Resp Orgs. These resources were assembled by the subject matter experts that helped architect the new SMS/800 TFN Registry and provides tutorials, helpful links and more to answer users’ most frequently asked questions:
