VIDEO: The Latest SMS/800 TFN Registry Scoop from #TFUS17!

The 2017 Toll-Free User Summit hosted a number of panels discussing the latest buzz in the Toll-Free Industry today. In the Say Hello to Your SMS/800 Toll-Free Number Registry panel, a group of industry leaders gathered to discuss their experiences with the recent upgrades the registry has seen, as well as their experiences beta testing the new User Interface (UI) and Application Program Interfaces (APIs) that’s available now.

Somos' COO William Carter kicked off the session by introducing some of the new enhancements and features to the SMS/800 TFN Registry that will modernize the registry and streamline the way Responsible Organizations (Resp Orgs) optimize their business processes. Some of the panelists are participants in the registry’s beta program, and have already started working with the registry’s new UI and APIs.

We have started transferring over to the API, and I can tell you as a part of the beta, it’s a lot easier to interact with,” said Bijanfar.

The APIs allow Resp Orgs to integrate SMS/800 TFN Registry information with other registries managed by Somos, including the Texting & Smart Services (TSS) Registry.

Lowe found the biggest recent improvement to the registry was the removal of the browser restriction. “The new APIs are allowing us to integrate into our workflows, which makes everything more efficient for us. We’re still moving that … into our customer facing applications — that is about speed and allowing customers to do what they need to do,” said Lowe.

With the API and UI enhancements, we’re excited about using our own SIM credentials, updating our password when needed, and the new one-click activate feature that will allow us to search and activate our numbers … These are going to help streamline our provisioning at ANI Networks,” said DiPuccio.

As the participants made clear, the registry updates are already making an impact on Resp Orgs and Service Registrars, and will continue to improve from the entire industry providing input and feedback.

Somos is grateful for the panel participants who contributed their knowledge to this year’s Summit, and thanks the audience members who also joined the panel discussions this year. Make sure to join us next year at the 2018 Toll-Free User Summit in Las Vegas!
