Director, Business Development

We are looking for a highly energetic, motivated, and results-oriented business development professional to join our team.  The Director, Business Development will lead development of innovative business opportunities by matching technology trends and market needs with Somos’ assets to deliver valuable solutions that yield new revenue streams. 

Responsibilities & Accountabilities

Business Development:

  • Work collaboratively across the organization to model new opportunities including market research, identifying customer problem statements and market gap analysis, market sizing, forecasting, pricing, sales channels and go to market planning.
  • Jointly design solutions with a cross functional teams, build communities around Proofs of Concept
  • Conducts business and technical briefings for executive management and external parties
  • Qualify new opportunities and provide executive recommendations on new opportunity investments
  • Lead agile business development cycles and hand off to Product Management for Lifecycle management
  • Participate in and represent the company at industry and new technology events to discover new opportunities and promote new solutions.
  • Interact effectively with all members of the team, vendors and potential new business customers, with ability to discuss and initiate new and expanding market strategies

 Strong Communication and Presentation Skills: 

  • Strong communication, presentation, negotiation and sales skills at all levels of the organization
  • Strong leadership skills and ability to motivate team members
  • Strong negotiation and sales skills ability to navigate around all levels of a telecommunications organizations

Skills and Experience

  • In depth industry knowledge and experience in constructing business opportunities from developing industry standards and regulatory environment. 
  • Experience grounded in telecoms and a progressive career developing new business opportunities around emerging technologies with expertise in authentication and identity services within the Telecommunications industry
  • Proven ability to assess and resolve complex business and market ecosystem situations in telecom including regulatory and standards frameworks
  • Results-oriented track record with a strategic approach toward business development
  • Strong leadership skills and ability to motivate team members

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Management, Marketing or related field, or equivalent experience; or a bachelor’s degree in engineering with a Master's in business administation
  • Minimum 10 years' experience in business development in telecom and/or registries
